Curtain Bluff
Hotel Rating: 5 Stars
Fifteen acres of beach and gardens create spectacular vistas for the fully inclusive 72 rooms and suites scattered up the bluff, where cooling sea breezes render air conditioning unnecessary even though the amenity is available.
The spacious Junior Suites have marble bathrooms and sunken living rooms, and are situated on the resort’s surf beach (a second beach offers calmer waters for water sports). The luxurious Morris Bay and Grace Bay Suites feature extra touches of indulgence such as four poster beds and balcony Jacuzzis.
The roomy accommodation is ideal for families, and both children and adults will find plenty to keep them amused here. Each May, Curtain Bluff hosts Antigua Tennis Week. Four floodlit courts and three resident pros will help improve your own game, or there’s squash, yoga, swimming in the 75 foot pool, croquet and a full range of motorized and non-motorized water sports.
Renew your energy at the weekly beach luncheon (complete with steel band) or in the main restaurant, accompanied by a bottle from the prodigious wine cellar – only 450 different vintages to choose from!
Located on the southern tip of Antigua in the Leeward Islands, Curtain Bluff encompasses 20 acres of lush tropical gardens on the Curtain Bluff peninsula, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. For over 40 years, Curtain Bluff's extraordinary service and amenities have set the standard for excellence throughout the Caribbean. Renowned hotelier and owner Howard Hulford selected the private location for the resort in 1957 - a peninsula surrounded by a reef which protects the property's two beautiful sandy beaches: the tranquil waters of the bay beach and a dramatic surf beach. The resort has been under his same outstanding management since it first opened in 1962.
Curtain Bluff is a member of the prestigious Virtuoso group of select properties worldwide. The resort has also received accolades from Travel + Leisure magazine - praised as one of the best in value and service in the Caribbean - and was recently named one of the top 10 Caribbean resorts by Condé Nast Traveler.

A very highly guarded, mutual respect has been cultivated between the people of the Old Road Village and Curtain Bluff. For this reason room keys are not needed. However, doors may be locked from the inside and each room is equipped with an in-room safe for guest convenience.
Howard and Chelle Hulford's private home at the top of the bluff also serves as the location for weddings. The Hulfords welcome all Curtain Bluff guests into their home for a weekly cocktail party.

*Note - All guest rooms are naturally cooled by ocean breezes and, although often unnecessary, air conditioning is also available in each room. Guests enjoy tropical surroundings with the absence of radios and televisions in their guest rooms.
Curtain Bluff offers some of the finest dining in the Caribbean with breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the price.
In fact, the commitment to superior dining at Curtain Bluff is so serious that Howard Hulford created his own import company in order to ensure consistent availability of fresh ingredients from around the world.
French-born Christophe Blatz has been overseeing the kitchen at Curtain Bluff as Executive Chef for the past three seasons, and was Sous Chef for
the previous seven years. Christophe Blatz trained under such notable chefs as Alain Ducasse and cooked in some of the finest Michelin star-rated kitchens in France including Les Ambassadeurs restaurant in the Hotel du Crillon Paris. His background fuses French continental with Caribbean flavors and ingredients. Working alongside chef Christophe Blatz is Mark Andrew Smith, master of the art of pastry making. Chef Smith's extensive resume includes over five years as pastry chef for P&O Cruises and four years as pastry chef at Carlisle Bay Resort in Antigua. Smith, joined by Executive Sous Chef, Burdette Martin, contribute an amazing flavor to Curtain Bluff.
Cooking Classes with the Chef - Chef Christophe Blatz teaches guests his personal style of fusing French flavors with Caribbean cuisine. Guests learn to cook lunch in the Bluff House, the private home of the Hulfords. Classes are $60 and include lunch and a specially selected bottle of wine from Curtain Bluff's cellar.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner - Breakfast and dinner are served al fresco in the Main Dining Room with sweeping views of the gardens. Lunch is served around the main bar terrace or in the more casual atmosphere of the Beach Club, which has been restyled with luxurious teak furniture. In-room dining is available during all meal hours.
Afternoon Tea - Afternoon tea is served on the Sugar Mill Terrace.
Hors d'oeuvres - At cocktail hour, guests can enjoy hot and cold hors d'oeuvres inside the Sugar Mill Bar or on its romantic terrace.
