Just got back from Cabo and have a few comments to share about the resort:
Rooms- The best part of the trip! We were upgraded to a presidential suite because my husband and I were there for our anniversary. We had a living room/dining room connected to our bedroom. The maid service was very good. Rooms were very clean, nice toiletries, and very spacious. Rooms provided us with slippers and robes. A/C worked great in the rooms.
Resort- Its not so big and not so family friendly. Very quiet throughout our stay. Not to many areas with A/C except for your room and 2 specialty restaurants. Ping pong and pool tables were located outside in the heat next to the gym so no one really utilized the tables. The resort does not have a theatre for there nightly shows. The shows were put on by staff so it didn\'t look so entertaining. The golf course was located outside of the resort so not so convenient. At the time we went Sun- Friday, it didn\'t look like the resort was at full capacity as we were told. Our apple rep also said that the resort is usally like this and that it was really laid back.
Restaurant- It was so uncomfortable eating under the 100 degrees hot weather. Like I said, there were only 2 specialty restaurants that had A/C, so most of the time they were full. One of the restaurants, Portofino, is formal, so we didn\'t get a chance to go because we didn\'[t pack any appropriate attire for the restaurant. The food was okay, not great. The breakfast buffet served the same items, room service food was limited, they had different themed buffets each night, not great. We ordered their steak nachos, which was a big hit in our group. Every night at the buffet, there were probably about 2 or 3 groups of people in the restaurant. Then again we were late night eaters, 8;30p. We couldn\'t eat at one of the restaurants Oceana as we had two little ones in our group.
One comment on the seaside grill restaurant, the host was very rude all the time. Didn\'t want to accomodate our large group, but Jorge, our waiter was very nice and accomodated to our group anyway. One night the host turned down the lights so it was very difficult to see our food, he also turned off the fans.... so again we were very uncomfortable eating in the heat. Be careful with him, he is the only grumpy staff person we encountered with at the resort. All the other staff were very friendly.
Spa- We used our spa credits towards our package which wasn\'t so bad. I\'ve had better massages and facials so I would rate this a 3. Thank God for the vouchers! I would have been upset if I had to pay for it at full price. I enjoyed the A/C during my time there!
Activities- What activities? Everything is located at the Marina so its pretty expensive to get to downtown. It\'s about $25 a couple for a taxi cab. My husband and I pretty much did everything the first time we went to Cabo in 2004, but we stayed at the RIU palace. Way better resort (people there, good food, things to do). We wanted to do the jet ski thing, but you had to go downtown to do that stuff.
Beach- What beach? You can\'t go in the beach at our hotel. Water is too rough.
Overall, the family trip was not bad at all. We are usually Cancun vacationers, but we decided to try out Cabo instead. We wouldn\'t return to this resort again
